Altar Stone
Also known as Morro do Altar. It is a rock formation located to the left of Agulhas Negras, and its name comes from the fact that it resembles an altar. It is the 11th highest mountain in the country and has nine climbing routes. It is also possible to reach the top of the altar just by walking. It is a simple and very interesting walk, providing a complete view of the Agulhas Negras, Morro do Couto and Asa de Hermes.

Morro do Couto
Couto is the 2nd highest point on the plateau, at 2680 m, and the 8th highest in Brazil. Its name comes from the time of colonization, when the slaves of the large farms in the region fled from their owners and took shelter on that hill, that is, they hid, took refuge in that place.

Aiuruoca Waterfall
The Aiuruoca waterfall inside the Park is an attraction that cannot be missed in your itinerary. It is considered the highest waterfall in Brazil at altitude. It is born in the valley that gives access to the most traditional crossings of the Park, ¨Rancho Caído¨e ¨Serra Negra¨.

Bell Stone
Considered the 10th highest mountain in Brazil, it is located behind the Pico das Agulhas Negras. One of the most spectacular views of the interior of the Park and with a walk through breathtaking landscapes.

This attraction is very coveted by visitors because it is located outside the Park entrance and with a great location from where you can watch the sunrise and sunset.

Stone Set
Located east of the Prateleiras massif, this curious formation has as its main attraction a rounded stone supported on the top of the massif, giving the impression that it was placed there.

Couto x Shelves
The Couto-Prateleiras Circuit was recently opened, providing an excellent option for walking in the park. The route, of about 11 km, can be completed in about 8 hours. It is a trail of moderate difficulty, being almost the entire route through the crest of the mountain, with a view of the Itatiaia Plateau, including Asa de Hermes, Serra Fina and Vale do Paraíba.

5 Lagos - Via Pedra do Altar
Circuit 5 lakes starts on a trail near the entrance to the upper part of the park. This trail is a new route created in the year 2013.
During the route we passed the Pedra do Altar, also known as Morro do Altar, is a rock formation located to the left of the Agulhas Negras, and its name comes from the fact that it resembles an altar. It is the eleventh highest mountain in the country and has nine climbing routes. It is also possible to reach the top of the altar just by walking. It is a simple and very interesting walk, providing a complete view of the Agulhas Negras, Morro do Couto and Asa de Hermes. Then we pass through the Abrigo Rebouças and return to the Park entrance.

Hermes Wing
Hermes Wing is a large stone block located opposite the north face of the Agulhas Negras, separated from it by a large valley. It is a stone with a shape resembling a rhombus, which sits on a rocky block at the edge of the valley.

Pico das Agulhas Negras is the 5th highest mountain in Brazil and coveted by many climbers and adventurers from around the world.
In this adventure through the fantastic Itatiaia National Park, the first National Park in Brazil, we will venture into this fantastic world of mountains, rivers, waterfalls, exuberant fauna and flora, dated more than 70 million years ago. Along the way we come across a huge variety of endemic plants with unique colors and shapes and fantastic rock formations sculpted by time, which take us on a journey with prehistoric scenery.

Book Summit
It is a beautiful and curious rock formation located near Agulhas Negras. It stands out for being constituted by several and gigantic blocks of rock leaning against each other, forming different levels with increasing heights, resembling the old condiment cans that were on the kitchen shelves and that had increasing size. From this analogy comes the name of the mountain, or perhaps, simply by passing on the idea of several blocks stacked on top of each other, as on a shelf.

Possibly one of the most repeated routes of the Agulhas massif, passing through the Students chimney and with a direct route to the top of the book. It is basically a route of easy bids.

Serra Negra
The Serra Negra Crossing begins at Posto Marcão, following through Abrigo Rebouças towards Pedra do Altar. This path leads to the Aiuruoca valley, where you can see the Eggs of the Chicken and the Stone of the Bell and follows to the left of the Aiuruoca Waterfall, considered the highest in Brazil, at altitude.

Rebouças x Mauá
The Rancho Caído crossing begins at Posto Marcão. On the first day, 10 km of trails are covered and brief passages through fields of altitude to the place of overnight stay.
From there you can see the main peaks in the region.
In this place there is a clearing where we set up camp for our overnight in tents.

Ruy Braga
The crossing Ruy Braga got their start at the Post Marcao. On the first day, 6 km of trails are covered and brief passages through closed forest to Abrigo Massena, a stop for lunch. From there you can see the main peaks of the region, the ruins of the old weather station and the Paraíba Valley.
